DESCRIPTION:Melville’s great-great-great-granddaughter Elizabeth Doss presents dramatic readings selected from her great-grandmother Francis Osborne’s memoir Herman Melville through a Child’s Eyes\,  a domestic perspective on Melville’s final years\, portraying him as a warm and imaginative figure. This special program creates connections across five generations of one family. It illustrates  how stories bind us together across time\, and how our ancestors shape how we became who we are. \nTea\, sweets\, and discussion follow the presentation. \nTickets are $20 for BCHS members\, $25 for non-members and can be purchased by using the BOOK NOW button . \nThis event is sponsored by Massachusetts Cultural Council and Greylock Federal Credit Union.

DESCRIPTION:The popular nineteenth-century tradition of the parlour concert is celebrated with a festive holiday-themed harpsichord and vocal performance by Richard Franklin Donohue in Arrowhead’s historic parlour. Arrowhead will be decorated for the season; tea and cookies will be served following the concert. \nHistorian and musician Richard Franklin Donohue will explore an extraordinary repertoire of Christmas music from the tenth through the nineteenth centuries with carols presented in their original languages of German\, Latin\, Middle English\, French\, and modern English sung a cappella and with harpsichord accompaniment. \n Richard Franklin Donohue is a singer\, private music instructor\, and historian. Vocally\, he is a tenor who specializes in historic music ranging from Middle English Carols to 19th century romantic music.  He has been teaching Piano\, Voice\, and Music Theory since 1992.  \n Tickets are $15 for BCHS members\, $20 for non-members and can be purchased by using the BOOK NOW button. \nThis event is sponsored by Massachusetts Cultural Council and Greylock Federal Credit Union.
