The Berkshire County Historical Society preserves and interprets the history of the Berkshires, its people, and landscapes through its collection, a robust program of talks with notable authors, writing workshops and fellowships, nature hikes, lectures by historians and scholars, exhibitions,, and special events such as plays, music, and dance performances, as well as learning experiences and tours for local schools.

BCHS preserves one of the Berkshires most important cultural sites – Arrowhead, the historic home and farm of Herman Melville. It was at Arrowhead that Melville wrote many of his most important works, including Moby-Dick.

Please join with other community members in supporting the work of BCHS. Below are 2026 annual Business Membership levels and benefits.
